Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu comes in two forms: GI and NOGI.
GI Jiu-Jitsu: involves grappling while wearing a traditional Gi, enabling the use of your opponent's clothing for grips.
NOGI Jiu-Jitsu: doesn't use the traditional uniform; instead, practitioners wear shorts and rash guards, not allowing the use of clothing grips during grappling.
In BJJ your focus is on taking your opponent down. On the ground you try to gaining a dominant position, and use a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds.
